Winter Skincare

Hey Guys,

So now that I’m back in business I thought I’d kick off things with a winter skincare post. Winter is the toughest time of year for everybody’s skin no matter what skin type you are, the transition from warm weather to the damp cold weather can wreak havoc on your skin.

I generally have dry/combination skin but through the transition period of summer into winter I’ve found ive been breaking out a lot more. Ireland can be so damp and it can cause everything from dry patchy skin to acne breakouts so you may see your skin wing to an extreme all of a sudden.

I have a few products I swear by and some of these seem biased based on the fact I’ve gotten them for free from working with the brands in salon but I genuinely do love them!!

 Elemis Superfood Facial Oil

This product is a lifesaver for me, I have stopped using it lately because I ran out and I can see the difference already so I am hooked! It’s a blend of plant based superfoods hydrates and nourishes the skin and helps repair the skin. We had a lady in salon that actually says this helped heal her Cole sore (I can’t guarantee that obviously!!). It is great for fine lines and wrinkles also so it’s a perfect anti-ageing product. Its apparently great for all skin types but I would probably recommend this more to dry, dehydrated, ageing skins more so than oily. It retails for 56.50 on www.millies.ie but they always have discounts on so have a look at the Christmas sets because you’ll get a better deal that way!

Bare Minerals Skin Longevity Vital Power Infusion

So, this product I stocked up on before I left my job at Bare Minerals. It’s a lightweight serum that helps with anti-ageing and helps repair the skin. It has a trademarked ingredient of Life Long Herb Extract which can’t be used in any other skin care product out there, and this helps with fine lines, wrinkles and signs of ageing. There was a story we were told about this herb being drank as a tea in a little town in Asia and the people never aged so it must work!! I wouldn’t recommend drinking your serum though obviously! I find this serum great because its lightweight and sinks in really fast so you can layer it under your moisturizer and it won’t clog your pores. It retails for 55euro at your local Bare Minerals counter or at www.millies.ie

Dermalogica Ultra Soothing Eye Serum

Now this I didn’t get for free lol!! I actually got a sample of this off of a friend and I love it. It’s a lightweight eye serum that helps smooth out the undereye area which I feel it does. It contains an advanced peptide which helps induce collagen production which plumps out the fine lines. I have found my undereye has gotten a little wrinklier and Crepey since I’ve approached 30 and I need the eye treatments more than ever. Personally, I prefer a lightweight product under the eye as I don’t want anything too heavy as the skin is so delicate. This is perfect for it and  I highly recommend it! It retails for 49.95euro on www.millies.ie

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream

This product is amazing, its rich, its moisturizing and it just feels luxurious. I wouldn’t recommend it under makeup if you find your makeup skips and slides but its great at night and if you have time in the morning to let it sink in. Its Elemis Hero product and one sells every 30 seconds around the world or something ridiculous like that. I can see why because I’ve seem great improvement in my skin since I started using it. It contains a marine extract known as Padina Pavonica which helps with the effects of ageing and the production of collagen. It is on the pricey side so I would recommend getting the Christmas sets for the best value. It retails for 109euro but like I said get looking at the deals on www.millies.ie

I hope you have found this helpful and if you’re wondering why I mentioned Millie’s.ie so much, it’s because I came across this site lately and it has such a fab range of products that you can usually only buy in salon or spa so it’s great for those of us who would rather just buy online. Also, they seem to always have sales on and the giftsets are fantastic so I can’t fault them yet! When you register for their newsletter you also get 10% off your first order!!

Happy shopping guys!
